What Makes Rhinoplasty One of The Hardest Surgical Procedures to Perform? 

Rhinoplasty is known for being one of the hardest surgical procedures to perform. The fact that every nose is different; how each patient heals is different; and it’s also true that different people have different preferences when it comes to the desired outcome of a rhinoplasty.

Some patients may want a more subtle change that enhances the natural shape of their nose, while others may desire a more dramatic transformation. The desired outcome of a rhinoplasty may also depend on the individual’s cultural background, personal style, and facial features. For some, there’s an internal struggle of wanting a “natural” looking nose, but also wanting to feel like they got their money’s worth, so-to-speak. Ultimately, my goal is to create a unique nose that complements each patient’s own unique facial features and enhances their overall appearance.

It’s important for me to have a clear understanding of what each patient wants to achieve with the surgery. I ask each of my patients to communicate their goals and expectations as best they can. Often, that’s a lot harder than one might think. That’s why I use a software program that allows me to edit patient photos in such a way that it can simulate the expected rhinoplasty changes as part of each patient’s consultation. It helps to make sure the patient and I are on the same page well before the real rhinoplasty journey begins!
